Emily began her ministry at Philadelphia in July 2012, immediately following her ordination as an Elder in the United Methodist Church in June 2012. In her current role, she is senior pastor of both Philadelphia and their sister church Bethel UMC in Rock Hill. She enjoys leading worship and Bible studies as well as walking alongside people from our church family and our community. Emily serves outside her local churches on several boards and agencies including the Rock Hill District and Conference Boards of Congregational Development, Connectional Ministries and the Rapid Response and Refugee and Immigrant Ministries Team.
Before moving to Rock Hill, she served for two years as the pastor of the West Metro Hispanic Ministry, a new church plant located in West Columbia, SC, where she launched a bilingual United Methodist community of faith. As part of this ministry, she created worship and Bible study opportunities in Spanish, developed an ESOL program, and advocated for the Hispanic community on a local, state, and national level.
Emily earned her Masters of Divinity from The Divinity School at Duke University and her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Spanish from Wofford College. Emily is a proud South Carolina native from Jonesville, SC, where she spent her childhood learning the value of hard work on her family farm. She grew up attending Bethlehem UMC in Jonesville.
Emily shares her life and ministry with her husband Marc, their beautiful daughter Isabella, and their spunky schnauzer Sugar Cookie. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and sampling coffee from around the world.
